At Home With Artist Deann Hebert

Photography by Paige French

Deann Hebert is a fine artist working out of the beautiful town of Franklin, Tennessee. Her acrylic impasto pieces pay homage to the rustic, nostalgic buildings and barns that gracefully dot the landscape of the South. It is no surprise that she and her husband chose a 1890 circa historic home, Hillbound (it's even on the local register of historic houses) as a base to build their life and raise their daughters. In Volume 02, we interview Deann in her studio and learn more about her work, but are excited to share a sneak peek of her personality through this tour of her rustically-refined home captured by photographer Paige French.

I love antiques and anything with a story; mixing the old with the new in this historic home, to create a comfortable, rustic refinement.

It can be difficult to disconnect from our busy online world, but I want my children to understand that it wasn’t always emails and texts...and on our mini-farm here at Hillbound, we are trying to carry on some rural ways of life.

We aren’t just making connections with the land we
live on, but with our family’s rural past, one that I hope becomes as important to my daughters as it is to myself.
