Time. We all need more time. But not just time to tick more things off of our to do list but time for those small moments of connection as we go about our day. Lately I’m drawn to the shops where I know the owner. A place where as soon as I walk in, I feel at home.

The Old Faithful Shop in Vancouver is such a place.

You could say that it’s in owner and founder Walter Manning’s DNA – his grandparents and great grandparents were general store proprietors in Newfoundland on Canada’s east coast. Now Walter is doing the same on the other side of the country in Vancouver.

No matter how many times I visit the Old Faithful Shop, I always find something unique. Walter prides himself in providing quality goods for simple, everyday living. Naturally curious with a discerning eye, he’ll see something in a book or a magazine layout or even a 1970’s movie, source it and stock it.

And isn’t that what satisfies today – goods and connections that age well and stand the test of time.
